The idea is to allow the cherry pits to spread out more and affect a larger area with heat or cold. example - I have pancaked discs in my lower back, laying on a neck size cherry pit pack is very uncomfortable. This Pillow size Cherry Pit Heating pad spread out so I get nice even heat over a larger area of my back, I can lay on it and it's not much thicker than a towel. I have found that the two minutes in the microwave to warm it gives me about 20 minutes or relief.
